Treatment Consultation
Schedule a FREE consultation to get more information regarding the procedure. In this initial session, our physician will carefully review your medical history, address your treatment goals, desired areas of treatment, and discuss the risks and benefits of sclerotherapy.
This dedicated time also provides patients with the opportunity to ask questions or address concerns they may have about the procedure and its post-treatment care. Additionally, our team will formulate a personalized treatment plan and provide pricing.
What to Expect
Sclerotherapy is performed in our office and does not require anesthesia. It's a relatively quick procedure, with sessions lasting anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the number and size of veins being treated.
While some patients may experience mild discomfort or bruising at the injection site, these side effects are usually temporary and resolve within a few days.
After your procedure, you will be asked to wear compression stockings over the injection sites for 24 hours if the treated area is on the legs. After this time it is highly recommended that you wear a medical support hose for the next two weeks. It is recommended that you avoid activities that can strain the affected area, such as squatting or heavy lifting.
After sclerotherapy, some slight bruising or discoloration can be expected. While healing, the vessels may take up to four to six weeks to disappear. It is highly advised that you stay out of the sun while healing. You will need to come in for a follow-up appointment to allow us to monitor the healing process.
How many sessions of sclerotherapy are needed?
Most patients will notice improvements in the appearance of spider veins after a single sclerotherapy treatment. However, for complete removal, patients generally require about two to four sclerotherapy treatment sessions.
What is the Treatment Cost?
Procedures are quoted on an individual basis depending on complexity and location of desired treatment area. Average cost starts at $250.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure designed to target and treat spider veins and reticular veins. A small amount of a specialized solution is injected directly into the affected vein, causing it to gradually fade as your body naturally reabsorbs it over time. It's one of the most well-established and effective options available for improving the appearance of unwanted veins, and at Elite Health it's performed with the same personalized, physician-led approach we bring to all of our services.

Yes, and we always want to make sure treatment is safe before moving forward. Sclerotherapy may not be recommended for individuals with a history of blood clots, severe allergies to sclerosing agents, or active infections in the treatment area. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we ask that you let us know so we can have the right conversation before proceeding. Your safety is always the first consideration, and your consultation gives us the opportunity to make sure this is the right fit for you.

A little preparation goes a long way. Before your appointment we recommend avoiding blood-thinning medications like aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 48 hours beforehand to help minimize bruising. Arrive with clean skin and skip any lotions or creams on the treatment area. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing is also helpful. If you have any questions about your current medications or health history, bring them up during your consultation and we'll walk through everything together.

Sclerotherapy is a straightforward, in-office procedure. A fine needle is used to inject a specialized sclerosing solution directly into the targeted vein. Most patients describe the sensation as a mild sting or pressure. The number of injections depends on the size and number of veins being treated. The procedure typically takes less than an hour, and you'll be able to head home the same day.

Some mild bruising, swelling, or temporary darkening of the treated veins is completely normal and expected. This is actually a sign that the solution is working. Over the following four to six weeks, the treated veins will gradually fade as your body reabsorbs them. We may recommend wearing compression stockings during the healing process to support circulation and enhance your results. Most patients return to their normal daily routine shortly after treatment, though we do advise avoiding strenuous exercise and prolonged sun exposure for a few weeks.
-
Most patients begin to notice visible improvement within a few weeks of treatment. Full results typically develop over four to six weeks as the treated veins continue to fade. The timeline can vary depending on the size and number of veins treated, which is why we monitor your progress closely and schedule follow-up visits to make sure everything is healing well and you're happy with your results.
-
This varies from person to person depending on the number of veins being treated and how your body responds. Some patients see the results they're looking for after a single session, while others may benefit from additional treatments. We'll give you a realistic picture of what to expect during your consultation and check in with you throughout the process to make sure we're on track.

Sclerotherapy effectively treats existing veins, but maintaining good vein health over time is something we can support you with as well. Regular movement, staying at a healthy weight, avoiding prolonged periods of sitting or standing, and wearing compression stockings when recommended all help support circulation and reduce the likelihood of new veins forming. As a Direct Primary Care practice, we're here for the long term, so if you ever have new concerns or want to revisit treatment down the road, we're just a message away.
